Client Case Details
Client's presenting issues:
PHQ-9 = 14; CORE-10 = 0; GAD-7 = 14; WARWICK-EDINBURGH = 17 The client shared background information about his family and in particular his own timeline and his relationships with both his elder and younger brothers. He reports having "always been in pain" at some level, not feeling like he really "belonged" and his sense of desolation at his younger brother's suicide last year.
What does the client want from counselling?
To try to make sense of both his own life, of what happened to his brother, and the impact of his brother's death on the family.
How well is the client able to cope with their situation?
He describes ups and downs in his mood but he thoroughly enjoys his role in the RAF and he finds pleasure in playing his guitar.
What is the client’s support network? (Family, friends, GP, Mental Health team etc.)
The client describes a wide circle of friends who support him. He hasn't been to his MO about how he's feeling; in fact, he's never sought counselling before and feels he probably should have a long time ago. I would suggest the full twelve sessions would be appropriate for this client bearing in mind the subject matter and his own personal issues.
